My colleagues and I all use the same email address, sales@company.co.uk. Can we all open an umbel account?

Unfortunately, this isn’t possible. For security purposes, a unique email address is required to generate each umbel account. It may be worth asking whoever deals with your company’s IT requirements if it’s possible for personal email accounts to be created.

How do I access an umbel module?

There are 3 options for this:

Quick search

Type in a few descriptive words and click the arrow to generate a list of relevant results including module titles. Assuming you are logged in, you can then select one of the titles to view.

Category search

Select a category of modules from the drop-down list. You will then be presented with a list of all the modules in the chosen category. Assuming you are logged in, you can then select one of the titles to view.

What do I do if I have a problem?

I’m not very familiar with computer technology – will I be able to cope?

umbel was specifically designed with ease of use in mind. If you’re new to online learning, we recommend that you click on the what is umbel? button below which will give you a brief guide on how to get started.

What systems requirements are needed to run umbel programmes?

- Internet Explorer 4 or above (Internet Explorer 6 recommended).

- Macromedia Flash plug-in.

- Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or above (Acrobat Reader 7 recommended).

- Screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels (1024 x 768 recommended).

Can I change my password?

Yes you can. Simply login and click on My account, which has a Change my password option.

Will I be able to print off materials/information?

Yes you will. 

Do I need broadband to access umbel?

No, but using broadband is likely to result in faster umbel access than using a dial-up connection.

Can I access umbel from my PC at home and the one at work?

Yes you can. Simply access www.umbel.co.uk on any PC, click on the Login button, and enter your username and password.

Will other people be able to see what modules I’ve viewed?

Only if you disclose your password…

Do you use cookies?

Yes, like other websites, in certain circumstances we use cookies to enable us to obtain specific information when your web browser accesses www.umbel.co.uk.

You can choose to use software designed to enable you to visit www.umbel.co.uk anonymously, although this will restrict the level of personalisation for your umbel access.
